Murray Dewart

Byzantium Gates, 2013. granite, bronze, copper, 7'x2'x4' each by Murray Dewart.

The four monumental sculptures, Byzantium Gates, contribute their own architecture to the Plaza, conveying both the momentum of ritual pilgrimage and the stasis of meditative sacred space. The resolute guardian forms are protective and consoling in their elemental strength. Dewart’s work gestures to the natural landscape as well as to inner harmony.
